Well, it’s been an ongoing debate for a while as to what the best coffee grinder is, but in the end it seems the burr grinder has came out on top. When you get into discussing the various candidates for the best coffee grinder there are only really two contenders that are worth mentioning. One is the bladed coffee grinder and the second is the burr coffee grinder. Each has their specific pros and cons and in the end it’s really up to the consumer to decide what they’re after; quick coffee or great tasting coffee? You must ask yourself this question because while one holds the upper hand in speed the other keeps a monopoly on flavor and aroma.

First up for best coffee grinder we have the bladed grinder. In reality, it’s not technically a “grinder” of any sort, but rather a “squasher and chopper”. It works in a similar fashion to a blender of food processor for dry foods. The blades move at rapid speeds and squish/chop up the coffee beans. A general rule of thumb is that the longer you run the grinder the finer the end-grind will become. However, while the bladed solution might be the best coffee grinder for its speed, it does lack in important areas. Mainly it’s issues arise from the inconsistency in the grind created.
Next we have the more obvious winner as the best coffee grinder. The only complaints for this particular product come from its slower speed, but it just so happens that the slower speed is more beneficial towards a great tasting cup of coffee. As well, the entire grind produced is of one similar coarseness. If it’s extra fine it’s extra fine, if it’s coarse it’s coarse, etc. there is no mixture like you’ll find with most bladed grinders. In the end, only the consumer can truly decide what the best coffee grinder is for him or her.
Let me show you what current owners have to say about it:
David Bock
First off, the grind you get from a burr grinder is superior to a blade, hands down. This grinder makes a superbly uniform grind, and the fineness/coarseness is easily adjustable. For the price, this is an excellent burr grinder. Highly recommend it for your average coffee drinker.
