Many people in this day and age might crack a giggle at the mention of the word “manual” especially when associated with the early morning before your coffee. It’s perhaps for this reason that the manual burr coffee grinder seems to go on unnoticed by many other than hard-core espresso fanatics. It seems only they realize the benefits of hand churning your own coffee beans down into your unique blend with whatever coarseness you’re craving.

While others may only see a slow, outdated tool that can’t plug into a wall when they look at a manual burr coffee grinder, a lover of coffee will see a clear path to starting their day exactly the way they want to.
The manual burr coffee grinder still works with the same basic concepts in mind as an electric grinder. A bottom burr supports the beans while a top burr is rotated at a certain speed to slowly grind the coffee down as compared to a bladed grinder which simply smashes it. Of course the main difference comes where the top, rotating blade must be turned with a lever by hand rather than operating on its own when plugged switched on. This may seem an inconvenience to some, but it is not without benefit.
A manual burr coffee grinder will naturally require less maintenance throughout its uses and is much simpler to disassemble and clean. It requires fewer parts than the electrical counterpart and with no electrical issues to hold it back it demonstrates a much longer shelf-life. No plastic means no static and no messy counter-tops from wild coffee grinds. Not to mention, there is just something empowering about grinding your own bean down to coffee each morning with your own hands. The manual burr coffee grinder is for the true lover of excellent espresso.
Let me show you what current owners have to say about it:

The grinder is perfect. I wanted something manual so i could easily grind a few cups worth of beans daily at my desk without firing up a loud electric device. It’s fairly quiet, easily adjustable and grinds well. Filling it up completely will take no more than a few minutes to grind and give you enough for 2-3 cups depending how strong you like your coffee. This is absolutely ideal as a companion to your french press. I can’t wait to take it camping for a freshly ground cup of delicious coffee in the woods.
