conical burr coffee grinder The Conical Burr Coffee Grinder Takes Over!A conical burr coffee grinder is often the preferred method when it comes to choosing the perfect burr grinder. Choosing the conical grinder will make the selection process much easier and place you with something you know will produce a great cup of coffee each and every time. These are so desired because they preserve the natural aroma and flavors of the coffee bean and do not destroy the flavors that a lot of smaller coffee grinders will. A burr coffee grinder is already one step above the bladed grinders on the coffee food chain and the conical burr coffee grinder is surely at the top.

Coffee beans worked through a conical burr coffee grinder hold such a great taste in part due to the slow speed of the grinder. It’s often assumed higher speeds are a good quality in coffee grinders, but in truth they hurt more than help. The faster the coffee is ground down the more heat that is produced in the process. This produced heat withers and effects the flavors stored in the grind.

Nine times out of ten; a conical burr coffee grinder will allow the operator to choose their desired coarseness for the grind to be brewed. Some people prefer a coarse grind while others enjoy it extremely fine.

Just as a regular burr coffee grinder, the conical burr coffee grinder works with two opposing plates. (or blades). However, at the base there is a cone shaped burr that rotates against the top burr of the grinder. Due to the larger surface area they aren’t forced to rotate at the same high speeds as other typical coffee grinders to produce a large enough grind. With all of this it’s obvious why the subtle nature of the conical grinder has helped it climb to the top.

Let me show you what current owners have to say about it:

Sandia Man
I have used three grinders in the past 5 years, one blade and two wheel burr grinders, all broke or were dusty and noisy. This is the first conical wheel grinder I have owned and I cannot compare it to its comparable competitor, the Capresso, and I have only used it a dozen times or so, However, I am impressed by its quality, it is beautifully made and the huge reduction in noise was most welcome. The big plus…I set the timer, press start and walk away, no holding lids down, no coffee flying around etc.
